Gloria 02:19
Gloria sing gloria, In excelsis deo! Gloria sing gloria, In excelsis deo! Lord God heavenly King, Almighty God and Father, We worship you we give you thanks, We praise you for your glory! Jesus son of God, Lamb of God our friend. You take away our sin and shame, Have mercy God we pray! You alone are holy, You alone are in charge. You alone are the mighty one, Glory to your name!

Holy, Holy 04:24
Holy, holy, Lord God almighty. Blessed is he, Blessed is he, Who comes in your name O Lord.
3.
Jesus lamb of God Jesus lamb of God Jesus lamb of God Have mercy. Bearer of our sin, Bearer of our sin, Bearer of our sin, Have mercy. Saviour of the world, Saviour of the world, Saviour of the world, Grant us peace O Lord.

The Lord's my Shepherd; I'll not want. He makes me down to lie In pastures green; He leadeth me The quiet waters by. My soul He doth restore again; And me to walk doth make Within the paths of righteousness, E'en for His own name's sake. (Ch) And I will trust in you, And I will trust in you, Your mercy follows me, And I will trust in you. Yea, though I walk through death's dark vale, Yet will I fear no ill; For Thou art with me, and Thy rod And staff me comfort still. My table Thou hast furnished In presence of my foes; My head Thou dost with oil anoint, And my cup overflows. Goodness and mercy all my life Shall surely follow me; And in God's house Forevermore My dwelling place shall be. The Lord's my Shepherd; I'll not want. He makes me down to lie In pastures green; He leadeth me The quiet waters by.

Don't Worry 02:30
Don't worry about your life, What to eat or drink or wear, Is not life more than food? See the birds of the air. Don't worry, God knows, Don't worry, God knows, Don't worry, God knows, Don't worry coz God knows what you need. Don't worry about your friends, Who loves you and who'll be there, God's with you all the time, See the birds of the air. Don't worry about your past, Time to move on if you dare, Jesus asks you to follow, See the birds of the air.

O breath of life come sweeping through, revive your church with power, O breath of life come cleanse, renew us, prepare your church to meet this hour. O wind of God come bend and shake, Humbly you we need, Then in your tenderness remake us, Revive restore, for this we plead. Breathe on us, Breath of God. Breathe on us, Breath of God. O breath of love come breathe within, Renewing thought and heart. Come love of Christ, afresh to win us, Revive your church in every part. Revive us Lord, creation groans, the harvest fileds are white, Let mercy flow, new life to dry bones, Come breath, come breath, come breathe your life. The heart of Christ still feels the pain, It's where the troubled rest, The broken hearted find their comfort, the hungry of the world are blessed.

Christ, whose glory fills the skies, In him God lives with us, Human mystery, God for all to see- Christ who comes to serve. And we will follow you, We will follow you! Christ, whose glory fills the skies, In him God lives with us. God our father, mother, one. Live in us today, Love so evident Grace magnificent Christ who comes to us. And we will run to you, We will run to you! God our father, mother, one. Live in us today. Much that we were made like God, But he like us, far more- We who he had made, Evil and good displayed, Christ who comes to die. And we will shout to you, We will shout to you! Much that we were made like God, But he like us, far more. God has made his home on earth, The Spirit lives in us. Death shall be no more, Life forever more, Christ who came to live. And we will live with you, We will live with you! Christ, whose glory fills the skies, In him God lives with us.

about

'Gloria' is an informal, homespun, bunch of folk songs written by James Sharp, based on liturgical and historical texts. Perhaps your toe will tap and your heart will be tweaked as you listen awhile. These tunes have been found to be equally at home in schools and pubs as they are in church.

The Lollards

The Lollards were an anarchic bunch of 14th century so-called heretics, who had the mad idea that it might be useful to be able to read the bible in the English language, rather than just in Latin and mediated by the catholic church. They had no centralised beliefs, authority or doctrines, yet many of them were burnt and executed for their outrage.

The Lollards are also a folk/music collective based in Bournemouth, who so far have avoided martyrdom and play songs of love, freedom, worship and blues; preferably whilst people have a beer in one hand or the other.

Musical biography

My musical interest started by playing a small plastic guitar left-handed at the age of 3. My first guitar teacher, encouraged me to switch to playing right handed and promptly taught me to finger-pick Blowing In The Wind in D major, God bless her heart. Inspired by the 70's christian folk music of The Fisherfolk to play the guitar and then cello, Mr Cobby, Mrs Bradbeer and Mrs Chivers taught me my guitar, theory and cello lessons, until Mr Learmouth then tutored me to my Grade 8 with distinction, aged 16 at Wellingborough School, having just won a music scholarship of £100 a year to attend! This certificate is the one of which I remain the proudest and is on display in my study to this day!

By night I played in the school rock band and by day sang in the chapel choir and played in the county youth orchestra. It never occurred to me that I couldn't cross musical genres so at college studying English & Music I performed recitals of classical avant garde guitar, played cello in the orchestra, was choral manager of the choir, played electric guitar in the Oxford Colleges Big Band and have played in various folk and rock bands over the years.

Interestingly I am losing my hearing, so am now grateful for friends and collaborators to help turn my music into something real, otherwise they remain in my head, sending me nuts. So thanks particularly to Dave and Toni, the music groups of St Nicholas' and All Saints Parish Churches and all friends, family and wise ones.

Please forward my music onto as many people as you like using the bandcamp link; once you've bought it use it wherever you can, schools & churches, pubs & clubs! If you would prefer a CD please get in touch at sharpcity@gmail.com
